Summer Fertilising Tips

Planting and General Garden

Ensure a resilient garden through summer by applying products rich in seaweed and organic matter such as Seamungus and GOGO Juice. This will improve the soil’s water holding capacity and most importantly, the plant’s ability to tolerate harsh conditions. As the weather heats up, keep a close eye out for heat stress in all areas of the garden. Where plants are looking tired or sickly, treat the plant with POPUL8 when UV is low.

Flowering Plants

Dead head roses regularly to encourage new growth and flowers and then apply Sudden Impact for Roses every eight weeks throughout summer and autumn for a beautiful rose display. Summer flowering annuals such as petunia, zinnia and marigold can also be fed with Sudden Impact for Roses (if they are in the ground) or Strike Back for Orchids (if they are in a pot). Once orchids have finished flowering, they can be repotted and divided if needed.

Acid Loving

Dead head azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias, giving them a light prune to shape and then apply Kahoona. Pick blueberries between October and February when the berries are dark. Blueberries can also be fed with Kahoona and water in with GOGO Juice.

Natives

In mid-summer, give native plants a light trim to maintain their shape, and feed with Bush Tucker Advanced Biological Formula. This has been boosted with bacteria and fungi to increase disease resistance and resilience to stress which will assist the plants greatly during summer.

Vegetables, Fruit and Citrus

Pull out any weeds competing for water and give your vegetables and herbs a feed with Gyganic for Veggies, Fruit and Citrus. Apply Gyganic to all stone fruit trees to encourage new growth. Make sure all fruit trees, including citrus, have a regular supply of water over the summer months to reduce the risk of fruit splitting and to improve fruit flavour and development.
