Glass Meets Garden: Chihuly’s Garden Cycle Exhibition

It’s always a pleasure catching up with the crew at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, and there’s always plenty of news to come from the stunning 51 hectare garden. One of the truly exciting events which is currently running and will continue to until the end of April 2025, is the Chihuly Garden Cycle exhibition.

As you meander under majestic trees and through the lush landscapes of Adelaide Botanic Garden, an Adelaide exclusive event by the world’s most celebrated contemporary glass artist, Dale Chihuly, awaits you. As the light changes throughout the day and seasons you can experience these vibrant, large-scale sculptures in the beautiful botanical destination.  There is a unique program of activities which compliments this major event, offering you opportunities to explore the art again and again.

Cliff Sawtell, site Horticultural Manager at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens was telling us that he and his team have taken a lot of pride in the specialised plantings which have been installed to complement the Chihuly displays.

“We incorporated Seamungus throughout the soil when planting to ensure that they settled in quickly. One which we particularly love is the Palm House garden.  The display there features a large blue spikey glass display.  This is surrounded with lomandra, liriope and cordyline”.
